VPN setup guide
This guide is for users who already have a config or are preparing before purchase. Follow these steps to install Amnezia, import your config, connect to VPN, and verify that your connection is working.
1. Before you start
Before importing a config, make sure you understand the order of the setup flow.
- Install Amnezia on the device where you want to use VPN.
- Choose a server location in Telegram bot or your account before activating access.
- Start a 24-hour trial or choose a subscription plan.
- After activation, receive the config or key for the selected location.
If you do not have a config yet, start with location selection and access activation first.
2. Install Amnezia
Download and install the Amnezia client for your platform:
- Windows — desktop application
- macOS — macOS build
- Linux — Linux build
- Android — mobile application
3. Get your config
The config is generated for the selected location. During trial, choose the location before generating the config.
Amnezia imports the config as issued; it does not switch server locations inside that config.
Telegram bot
Choose location → choose trial or plan → receive config in the bot flow.
Open Telegram bot →Account / Email
Log in → choose location and plan → receive config in account or email flow.
View pricing to choose your subscription or trial.
4. Import config
- Open Amnezia application.
- Find the import configuration or add profile action.
- Select the
.conffile or paste your key manually. - Save the profile with a clear name (e.g., "Russia", "US").
5. Connect VPN
- Open your imported profile in Amnezia.
- Enable the connection toggle.
- Wait for the connection status to show active.
- Keep VPN enabled while verifying your connection.
6. Verify IP
Confirm that your IP address has changed and matches your selected location.
Use one of these IP check services:
If the IP has not changed, check that the tunnel is active and your config was imported correctly.
7. Test real apps
Test that your VPN connection works with the apps you need:
Telegram
- Send and receive messages
- Upload media (photos, videos)
- Open channels and communities
- Make calls if needed
YouTube
- Video should start within seconds
- Seeking should work smoothly
- Buffering should be minimal
- Send and receive messages
- Share media
- Make voice and video calls
8. Troubleshooting
IP did not change
Check that the tunnel is active and that the imported config is the latest valid config. If the IP still does not change, reconnect the tunnel or import the config again.
App still unstable
Reconnect, test another network, or generate a new config during trial if location testing is still available.
Import failed
Ensure the config file is complete and correct. If you copied the key manually, check for extra spaces or missing characters. Try downloading the config file again.
IP shows wrong location
A config is tied to the location selected before activation. Amnezia does not change location inside the same config. Generate or request a new config for the correct location.

What if I lose my config?
You can always request a new config from your account or the Telegram bot. No additional payment is required.
Can I use the same config on multiple devices?
Yes. One config can be imported on multiple devices, but simultaneous connections may be limited by your subscription plan.
How do I change to a different location?
Get a new config for the desired location from your account or the Telegram bot, import it into Amnezia, and connect to it.
What if Telegram is still blocked after connecting?
Try reconnecting, verify that your IP has changed to the selected location, or request a new config for a different location. Clear your app cache and restart Telegram if needed.
Is there a time limit for my trial?
Yes, the trial lasts 24 hours from activation. If you want to continue after that, choose a subscription plan.
